Dr. Michael Kia, D.O.

 

Dr. Kia is a board certified general surgeon with fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Robotic surgery. He is an associate clinical professor of surgery at Michigan State University. Dr. Kia received his bachelor in science from the University of Michigan, his medical degree from Touro University in San Francisco, and performed his residency in general surgery through Michigan State University. Dr. Kia completed his fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the world renowned University of Texas in Houston.

Dr. Kia specializes in advanced laparoscopic surgery of the gastroinestinal tract. He has been a pioneer in surgical techniques and technology in the state of Michigan. Beginning in his residency, Dr. Kia has been recognized with numerous awards for his contributions to advancing medicine. He is the only fellowship trained robotic general surgeon in Michigan and serves as a proctor for other surgeons. Furthermore, Dr. Kia is the first and only surgeon in the state of Michigan to successfully perform Single Port Access Surgery.
