Dr. Michael Kia DO FACOS
Dr. Michael Kia is a board certified general surgeon with fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Robotic surgery. He is an associate clinical professor of surgery at Michigan State University. Dr. Kia received his bachelor in science from the University of Michigan, his medical degree from Touro University in San Francisco, and performed his residency in general surgery through Michigan State University. Dr. Kia completed his fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery at the world renowned University of Texas in Houston. Dr Kia is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
Dr. Kia specializes in advanced laparoscopic surgery of the gastrointestinal tract and abdomen. Dr. Kia has pioneered the technique of single incision surgery, serving as a national and international proctor. For his efforts, he has been recognized with numerous surgical awards and patents for his contributions to advancing surgery. Additionally, Dr Kia is the recipient of numerous patient satisfaction awards for his care and compassion.
Dr. Cody Nebeker, M.D
Dr. Nebeker was raised in Utah where he studied zoology at Weber State University. He came to Michigan in 2010 where he obtained his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He remained in Michigan to complete his residency in General Surgery. He
developed a passion for laparoscopic surgery working in Flint Michigan. He pursued a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic GI surgery and Bariatrics.
Dr. Nebeker enjoys seeing the results in his patients through significant weight loss and resolution of comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea, and arthritis as well as helping his patients come off of long term medications through surgery.
Dr. Nebeker has done research looking to understanding how surgeons think and learn about how they perform surgery as well as focusing on reflection after a surgery was done to do introspective self-assessments to understand what they have done differently or better.
Dr. Nebeker enjoys spending time outdoors. He is an avid road cyclist and he and his son spend every chance they can kayaking or camping over the summer. They enjoy downhill skiing in the winter.
