Also referred to as “minimally invasive” surgery, Laparoscopy can be used for many abdominal conditions including gallbladder, colon, hernia, ovary, etc. Because the incisions are minimal, patients heal faster and experience less pain.
Laparoscopic surgery describes the performance of surgical procedures with small incisions. These incisions are less than half an inch in length and the surgery is performed using very thin instruments.
Robotic Surgery
Robotic surgery with the da Vinci Surgical System allows doctors to perform many types of complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control than is possible with conventional techniques. Robotic surgery uses the same concepts as laparoscopic surgery allowing the procedures to be performed through tiny incisions. However robotic surgery can allow for enhanced precision, flexibility and control during the operation. Using robotic surgery, surgeons can perform delicate and complex procedures that may have been difficult or impossible with other methods.
